A stunning set of 12 French antique ironstone side plates hand coloured in polychrome glazes of navy blue, sage green and yellow ochre over a blue transferware pattern. Draped with floral garlands around the scalloped border with an ivory white paste, this is a sweet deals and understated antique design, absolutely perfect for a French Country kitchen. From renowned faienceries K&G (Keller and Guérin) Luneville France, c 1900. In wonderful, very usable condition.

This beautiful model of plate is made in fine earthenware, known in France as terre de fer ("iron earth"), with an ivory white paste. The border decoration features a charming design of flower garlands - so romantic and very, very French! A lovely classic design, in a beautiful palette of of soft pastel green complement by earthy yellow ochre and navy blue on an ivory-white ground.

Condition is very good - excellent condition for the set - most pieces have no chips or cracks, and only light signs of use including a few light scratches / scrapes. Minimal crazing (surprising at the age of 120+ years). Two plates have a small chip from the back rim, not visible from the front and one has a non-penetrating hairline in the center - again not visible from the front. Marked on the base with the pattern name Quevilly, as part of the maker's mark for K&G Luneville, France with a mark in use around 1900.
