A lovely vintage Bear stirrup jigger. Made of pewter, this stirrup features a Bear upper and "jigger" bottom and rests perfectly on its heads/ears when turned upside down. Extremely heavy in weight, this piece is solid and well-crafted. The detailing of the bear is stunning, from its fur to the ears. Truly a neat piece.

A quick summary on this type of cup and where the name originated: Stirrup cups (or smaller jiggers) were given to guests when they were leaving and had their feet in the leather stirrups (of the horse). It was also traditional to serve wine/port/sherry at the meet, prior to the fox hunt, so the stirrup cup was taken by a rider who was about to depart.

Hallmarks/era: None, 1970s

Condition: Very good vintage condition. There's very, very mild age/general surface wear in a few places but overall this stirrup jigger is in very good vintage condition. Truly a magical measure.
