The majority of this base is made with thick EVA foam, but the cheeks are padded out with carved upholstery foam. Base is super sturdy! The back has an opening about 9 inches wide. I recommend this base for medium or small head sizes. But it can be resized to fit larger by the buyer. Vision is great and ventilation is good! The base can be whatever creature you want, but the pattern was originally made for a cat. Smoke-free home. I do own dogs, so beware in case of severe allergies.
