Marcel Boucher February Flower of the Month Carved Faux Ivory Lucite deals Violet Bouquet Brooch / Pin RARE Jewelry
deals For sale is a VERY RARE faux Ivory carved Brooch from Marcel Boucher. The pin depicts a bouquet of violets, framed by by brushed gold-tone leaves, and is marked VIOLETS. The ivory flowers are something I've never seen, possibly a special edition? Brooch is in LIKE NEW condition with no discoloration or gold wear. It is marked with copywrite symbol ©BOUCHER, and numbered 9200P. This Maker's Mark places the timeframe of the production between 1955-1971. Exact date is unknown to me.
A true costume jewelry master, Marcel Boucher originally worked in fine jewelry, working for Cartier for a time. After exploring fine jewelry and fashion accessory design, Boucher started his own costume jewelry line in 1937 and might be best known for his "exotic birds" pieces for major Fifth Avenue department stores. Later joined by by Sandra Semensohn who eventually also became his wife, the Boucher firm continued to produce high-fashion jewelry until it was sold to Davorn Industries in 1970. Boucher jewelry is usually signed and carries an inventory number. Marcel Boucher jewelry is "high-end" and can be tough to tell from the "real thing".
