Nestled deep in the forest floor tucked in the ferns and moss under the canopy of conifers and beech; if one looks very close in late Spring, one can find basket nests filled with the speckled eggs of bat winged rabbits waiting to hatch.
Depicted is a mama bat-winged rabbit dutifully watching her basket nest as the papa hovers close by with anticipation. Soon the eggs will hatch and bat winged babies that will bounce and frolic and learn to fly.

The frame came from a collection of frames that once hung in the University of Texas offices. These frames where hand made by an employee of the university and are all in the collection were quite odd. It has been cleaned and painted with black acrylic paint. I gave it bright brown detail in the crevice with ultra fine glitter, bringing it new life. The print has been mounted on leaf green acid free matt paper and edged in decorative gold fringe and brown glitter velvet fabric trim. I have sealed the back and given it a dustcover and a ribbon for hanging made from the brown glitter velvet trim.

This framed print will come to you with out the watermark present in the photos.
Included with the framed piece is an insert with the story of “Waiting To Hatch”.

A friend of mine and fellow member of Halloween Artist Bazaar made me a custom winged rabbit sculpture based on her avatar.
