Here we have a lovely little oil on canvas showing a scene with goats and a cheeky dog in a country setting.
The painting is quite naive but is also quite charming.
The little dog seems to be making mischief and is being challenged by mother goat.
It is quite an old canvas and I think it would date to the early twentieth century.
There are a couple of condition issues. There are a couple of small holes in the canvas which I have tried to highlight in the photos and some scratching here and there to the paint surface. It could also do with a light cleaning, I imagine it has probably been in the same French country house for many many years where it will have darkened over time with dust from open fires.
There is a signature in the bottom right hand corner but it is quite hard to read.
A charming little picture that when sympathetically reframed and cleaned, would look fabulous as a piece of original French wall art.
A lovely antique oil painting that would make a perfect addition to any collection.
