Antique wood weaving bobbins, quills or pirns for weavers. Set of 12
with wired tops and metal ends. These quills were wound with wool
yarn or thread and fitted into a large wooden shuttle to weave wool fabric on a giant loom. They have also been referred to as a pirn,
spool, spindle, and bobbin.

With a beautifully rich patina, this collection can be displayed as primitive folk art. A very kind lady sent them to me..they were in her
mothers collection and she wanted them to go to somebody who
would enjoy them and their historical value.

Measuring; 8.75" length, approx. 1" width at wide ends.

Showing a wonderful patina condition is quite lovely for their age and use. Surprisingly all wire tops and metal end caps are still in place, well
actually not surprising as things used to be made to last, which indeed
they have. A little bit musty although they have been stored in a bag,
a bit of airing deals out should sort it.
