Stately old basket from mid 20th c. Philippines. All experts agree that this is from Luzon but there is still some discussion to be had about specific culture; the most likely being Ifugao or Igorot.

This classic beauty still has the slightly smoky aroma from decades of household use and is in very good condition considering the age. Have included lots of photos so do zoom in for all the details.
The lid of this basket sits right on top of the opening; it is possible that it once belonged to another basket but the weave and patina is so similar that it makes for a very nice match regardless.
