Wu Guanzhong was born in 1919 in Yixing, Jiangsu Province. Graduated from national Hangzhou art college in 1942. In 1946, he was admitted to study at public expense. The next year, he went to France to study oil painting in Professor suferpi's studio of the National Academy of Fine Arts in Paris. He returned to China in 1950 and taught in the Central Academy of fine arts, the Department of architecture of Tsinghua University, Beijing Academy of art and the Central Academy of Arts and crafts. In his long artistic career, Professor Wu Guanzhong has constantly explored the road of the integration of eastern and Western art, and sketch has become the direct source of his unique oil painting or ink painting works.
