deals this ukiyo-e from Kiyomine Torii was an artist of the Torii school working in Edo, the capital of Japan. In his younger years he designed mainly ukiyo-e of beautiful women (bijin-ga). In 1815 he became the head of the Torii school, changed his artist name to Kiyomitsu II Torii and is said to have stopped making single-sheet ukiyo-e. Prints by the artist are rather rare.
The ukiyo-e he made are mostly bijin-ga (images of courtesans). Richard Lane comments these prints as "generally considered his best work".
