An original hand signed 1863 “Five Dollars” note issued by the “State of Louisiana” from Shreveport. The note is printed on the back and has the hand inscribed serial number “818”, not sure what the mark is next to it, possibly a mistake. The note was printed by “B. Duncan Columb” (Columbia, S.C.). There is a small period tear and fold at upper right hand corner.

The original lead bullets were excavated from private land on the Fredericksburg Battlefield in Virginia. They were all made in iron molds and would have used a paper cartridge. The .58 rifle and .58 Williams Cleaner were made for the Springfield deals rifle and along with the .52 Sharps were Federal issue. The Confederate .57 Enfield was either imported from England through the naval blockade by the Confederacy or made in one of the Southern arsenals with imported molds. The white color is due to oxidation in the ground.

The hand made solid Cedar frame is 9 x 12 (glass size). The mat color is light grey. All of the work was done in our cabinet shop here in Fredericksburg, Virginia by my wife and I.

All of the artifacts are guaranteed to be original Civil War issue or as stated. A hand signed and dated “Letter of Authenticity” will be issued by Collectors Frame with a photograph of the item purchased.

Please see our "About" page for more information on the framing and artifacts.
