Birth Plaque - this one is sun/moon themed. He is a first son.
It is stained and painted using yellow, dark blue and iron oxide.
Started with designing a possible finished product and sketching it. Then cutting a template to shape the clay, adding components, applying name and date, choosing colors. As the plaque progresses, each step has a different part to develop as the piece dries, layers are constructed, gets bisqued in the kiln the first time, painted/stained/glazed and gets fired in the kiln the second final time. The one-of-a kind ceramic is complete. (Hanging options are discussed beforehand. This one has a rawhide and glass bead hanger).
