deals This very pretty Limoges porcelain miniature portrait brooch has an unusual shape. Most of these brooch are oval but this one is square. It also has an unusual trombone style Clasp. The lady depicted is dressed in Victorian style in a blue dress with blue flowers in her hair. What a lovely gift this brooch would make or an addition to your own collection.
The condition of this brooch is very good, especially considering that it is about 100 years old. The portrait is in excellent condition with no paint loss that I can see. The rope style frame around it has some dark spots that appear to be where the outside part of the frame was joined to the inside part of the frame. This can best be seen in the second and third photos. I believe that this is age related. The trombone Clasp works perfectly. The brooch is signed on the back (although that it is hard to read in the photos) ‘Made in France Limoges'. It measures approximately 1.25 inches by 1.25 inches.
