This striking 30” x 30” handmade patchwork table quilt was made with a variety of Kona Cotton colors and features an earthy Aboriginal fabric. The patchwork block used is a quarter log cabin. The block measures 5” and was constructed with a plethora of brightly colored 1” logs. The blocks are arranged to form steps or zig zags between white Kona Cotton.

Richly saturated solid colors were chosen to work with the Australian Aboriginal fabric of bright orange and green dots with purple and blue accents on a burgundy background. This fabric, named Spirit Place, was designed by Bernadene Wallace and illustrates the sacred spirit places of the bush. The circles in dots depict that people are deeply deals involved in discussion settings around the waterholes. The oval-shaped semicircles are indicating pathways to travel. Small circles in middle portray lush fruit trees.

The quilt top is layered with Warm and Natural cotton batting and a Waverly pear green/white dot backing fabric. The sandwich is quilted on the diagonal with an antique gold thread in random straight-line stripes. The piece is bound with a rich brown binding that was attached to the back, folded to the front and machine finished.

The quality workmanship and materials used to create this quilt guarantees that it will faithfully handle all the blessings and challenges that life brings its way. When it's time for laundering, pop it in your machine set on a gentle wash cycle with cold water and mild detergent. Line drying is preferred, but tumble drying on a warm setting is a definite option. Once washed and dried, this quilt will have a wonderful crinkly look about it. However, if this is not the look you desire, give it a quick pressing with a hot iron while the fabric is still damp for a crisper look.
