ANTIQUE GUERNSEY SUGAR BOWL AND CREAMER SET - LIDDED SUGAR BOWL - POTTERY/STONEWARE - WHITE - GOLD GILDING
Antique Guernsey Cooking Ware / Cambridge Art Pottery Creamer and Sugar bowl with lid. Cambridge Art Pottery was founded in 1900 by University of Cincinnati graduate Charles L. Casey in the city of Cambridge, located in the Appalachian foothills of Guernsey County, Ohio.
The company initially manufactured color glazed pottery and shifted its focus to making Guernsey earthenware a few years later.
Guernsey earthenware was modeled after practical French pottery made to go from oven to table. Not all Guernsey earthenware was wholly utilitarian.
Beautiful White with Gold Gilding Creamer and Two Handled Lidded Sugar Bowl (a matching set) made by Guernsey Earthenware Co. only in existence from 1909 to 1923 before becoming Cambridge Art Pottery in Cambridge, Ohio
In absolutely great condition with no cracks, chips, scratches or crazing this is a lovely Sugar Bowl and Creamer Set. There is, however, some fading of the gold gilding on the creamer but very little fading on the sugar bowl.
The Creamer measures 3 1/4 inches tall and 2 inches across the top in diameter and the Covered Sugar bowl measures 4 1/4 inches tall without the lid on and 2 inches across the top opening in diameter.
Both pieces are marked on the bottom "Guernsey".
A lovely set that would do well with almost any table setting as well as being very collectible.
