Drum lampshade made from beautiful cross-stitch embroidery. Bright colors depict a bustling 1800s village deals scene in autumn.SO very charming!
I bought this beautiful cross-stitch panel years ago at an upscale estate sale when it was framed, under glass and used as wall decor. I always meant for it to have a second life as a drum lampshade and now as another Fall approaches, it's time for the debut! The needlework is amazing, the bright colors lively and well-preserved and the scene is absolutely charming. As a native New Englander, I am well aware of the many villages that abound where this delightful Main St. could easily have been, and these little gems are in their glory in the bright autumn months.
The talented cross-stitch artist has left nothing out: the Old Glory Farm anchors the nearby pie shop, livestock barns and the egg shed boasts the season's plump pumpkins and apples. Horses pull carts and dairy products and hens are everywhere in the street, both the feathered and human kind. SO much activity and LOTS of flags!! In the distance a sturdy covered bridge and an old New England salt-box dwelling overlook all.
This is such a busy shade I kept the trims simple: mossy grosgrain, deep green velvet and a slightly lighter shade of soutache.
This little treasure is a drum shade measuring 10"widthX8"height and is a washer top, which means it's designed for a harp/finial lamp, but it can easily be changed to a clip-on by means of a spring adapter, which I can supply upon request at no charge. For reference, the lamp in the photos measures 11" from base to start of lightbulb hardware.
This charmer will be right at home in SO many settings: farmhouse, country, Early American, Colonial, cottage, vintage and traditional. Cute in a dining room and a real coversation piece in a living room/den. The listing photo doesn't do it justice but this shade looks amazing when lit.
