Gene's process;

Images are blocked out on rag or watercolor board, then highlights and other areas of the piece are deals masked to address later in the drawing process.

Layers of color are precisely applied by many pencil strokes such as; broader sweeps to finer flecks, dashes, and crosshatchings.
