Vintage Soviet Figurative Chess Set, K=8cm, Large Soviet Medieval Pattern Plastic Chessmen from the 70's, USSR deals Chess Set, No Box or Board
This is a vintage figurative plastic chess set from the 1970's, made in the former USSR. Pieces are made of hard plastic and molded in a pattern inspired by the Russian Grand Prince of Moscow in the Medieval times- Ivan the Terrible (Ivan Grozny).
All pieces are very wide at the base. All of them have the same diameter of the base - 4,2 cm. All pieces are felted with red felt and filled / weighted with gesso. King's weight is approx. 30 g.
The set comes with no board or box. It's suitable for playing on large chess boards. The board on the images is not included in the sale. Squares measure 5x5 cm. and the set fits nicely on that size.
Condition:
Pieces are in excellent condition, no deals cracks and broken parts. Material on the white side has turned slightly yellow from the age. Felts are recently replaced and in perfect condition.
