deals Did you know that there are over 28,000 known species of orchids in the world? This study of Ernst Haeckel's "Orchidae" exhibits an extraordinary collection of just a handfull of species. Ernst composed this image as lithograph print in 1904; I had to see what it would look like as an oil painting done in my favorite grisaille style. I used burnt sienna for the underpainting, which gives this piece of art a cozy warm feeling.
