This gorgeous antique nagabaori (long haori) is made of a pale purple meisen silk with a bold rose pattern in vivid purple throughout. It also features coordinating haori himo (cord ties).
Meisen is a weaving technique where the threads are dyed with stencils before they are woven, resulting in bold prints and a "blurred" ikat effect. This type of silk was very popular from the 1920s-1950s and it results in a textile that has a crisp, light feel.
