Encaustic is a medium of painting that dates back to antiquity. It is a mixture of beeswax and tree sap. It is applied hot, that is, when the wax is melted. Each layer of wax should be fused with the previous one with a blowtorch or heat gun. Each painting has a minimum of 15 layers of wax.
