Circa 1948 Original Hand Decorated California deals Pottery Textured Surface Rounded Square Serving Platter By Weil Ware SIGNED inkmark
The Charlie B Gallery of Carson City, Nevada is offering this decorated platter with textured front rounded square platter. From the internet: Weil of California was founded by Max Weil and was initially called California Figurine Company. They operated out of Los Angeles, CA from sometime in the 1930's to 1946. In 1946 the company deals moved its operations to Pasadena, CA and changed its name to Weil of California.
The interior foot of the form is signed with inkmark as shown noting "Hand Decorated Weil Ware with donkey depiction and Made in California". Factory crazing is present. Some peppering in the glaze and scuffing to the foot and minor glaze skip to the back of the form. Minor marks and contacts over the surfaces from normal use. I do not detect any post-studio chips, cracks, hairlines or repairs. The item offers a decent ring when tapped. All fragile merchandise is shipped using the "double box" process.
