A carcanet is a jeweled collar or necklace, from the old French, carcan, meaning collar. Carcanets were typically quite elaborate and formal, worn closely fitted to the neck. The style seems to have first appeared with the reemergence of the necklace during the end of the medieval period in the late 1300s. Carcanets reached their height of popularity during the Elizabethan era before falling out of favor when simpler and more minimalist clothing and jewelry became the fashion by the end of the sixteenth century.

I used the idea of a carcanet and added a butt load of magickal properties to it! It was crafted for Full Moons rituals, equinoxes, and Pagan holidays.

This particular piece focuses on the Triple Moon - Maiden, Mother, and Crone; deals the phases of life. This witch is one who works closely with the natural cycles and rhythms of the Earth and the Moon. Those specific energies that gradually flow into one another in a never ending circle of life, death, and rebirth.

This antique silver piece features a large (81mm) patterned collar with 22 inches of chain. Together they bring the necklace to about 23 inches long. Hanging from the collar are royal purple accent beads, 8mm purple tiger's eye crystals, crescent moon pendants, flower pendant, and Goddess pendant.
