This gorgeous mid-19th century Mason's ironstone Dinner Plate was produced at the time when Mason's was owned and controlled by George L Ashworth after the bankruptcy of C J Mason in 1848. This large plate is decorated in a striking chinoiserie pattern called "Old Japan Vase" Pattern No. 3174. The pattern would have been transfer printed then boldly hand enameled with much hand painted gilded detail. The base carries a puce transfer printed mark and an impressed Ashworth Real Ironstone China mark together with the pattern number, B3174. Excellent condition.
