Product code: Vintage Jeri Burdick Art Pottery ‘Pod’ Vase Organic Red Cylinder Form Wood Fired deals South Carolina 1990’s

Make a statement with this organically shaped art pottery vase or ‘pod' by South Carolina artist, Jeri Burdick. This hand formed, wood fired vase is a natural red clay color with a brown band along the cylinder portion which has been decorated with sets of 6 raised white dots that resemble a domino piece. The pod vase has a soft sheen along the brown band; other areas have been left unglazed. The rim has a very rustic edge and smudges of soot intentionally mark this piece which honors the elemental nature of pottery. ‘Pod' seems a very fitting given name for this unusual, artistic form.

This distinctive vase can shine on its own or within an arrangement of a few fellow pods. It will fit nicely onto a small table, desk or shelf display. The interior surface is not glazed; it does not seem intended to hold a live floral arrangement. Its rustic, organic style could compliment a wide range of decors: folk, cottage, farmhouse, bohemian, eclectic or modern. Each side has a different personality.

Jeri Buirdick is a South Carolina based artist and potter. She has been an active artisan since 1982. Her work is included within the collections of the South Carolina State Museum. Jeri's script signature as ‘J Burdick' is near Its base. This pod was likely purchased during a trip to South Carolina back in the 1990's.

The pod vase is approximately 3.75” inches tall and 4” inches at its widest with an opening of 1.25” inches. It weighs 12.5 ounces. It has a wonderful handmade character including variations in the clay and its decoration.

This red cylinder pod vase is in an excellent vintage condition without chips, cracks or repairs. The rim seems exactly as it was created with a very intentional rustic edge. This pod was displayed in an enclosed cabinet. Its base retains some adhesive felt cushions so that it remains ready to be used or displayed without scratching any surface. There is also a slight adhesive residue on its base from a shop tag. Please examine the photos in making your decision. This offering includes the red cylinder-shaped pod only, other pods and props are not included in this sale.

Three Jeri Burdick pods have been listed separately, however, they would be attractive as a pair or a trio. One photo of all three Burdick pods has been included for comparison purposes, however, only the red cylinder pod is included in this listing. Although they have been packaged separately for fastest shipping, these pods are small enough that they can be easily recombined into a single package. Any shipping savings over my separate shipping estimates will be refunded to you. Feel free to Etsy message me if you would like a shipping estimate for two or three combined pods based on your location.

The red cylinder pod vase has been wrapped in tissue and ribbon, with some extra bubble wrap inside the tissue to protect the rim, and carefully packed for shipment via Priority Mail within the US. The standard Priority Mail insurance covers up to the purchase price of this item, a combined value of up to $11 included within your purchase price.

Add something new to your table or your desk or gift this South Carolina pod vase to someone special. If you are interested in additional vintage tableware, holiday listings, and more, please ‘heart' my shop. I will be listing a few more art pottery items soon. deals
