Sometimes things don't go exactly as planned... and yet they turn out OK. As I was finishing this Magnolia bowl, a small crack quickly grew large enough to dislodge a piece from the side of the bowl. I was able to secure the piece using cyanoacrylate, but the color around the fix would not be as easy to remedy. I had already been talking with deals my daughter-in-law, Melody, about painting some of my bowls. I was sure that Melody, (@MelodyManningOrser) an accomplished artist in her own right, would be able to make something beautiful out of this bowl. This is the first of several bowls that will have Melody adding her creative talents to the project.
I think you'll agree that the final product was worth the extra effort. I call this bowl Magnolia Moon and am confident that it will make a great conversation centerpiece wherever it is displayed.
This bowl is NOT food safe. The final sanding and hand painting have been left in their natural state to show off the true beauty of this piece.
