FROG or TREE large, rare, old AFGHAN pendant, inscription, Farsi, Middle East, protection, fertility, Frog, tree of life, deals Boho, unisex, man

Large and highly idiosyncratic Vintage Afghan / Middle Eastern amulet with script. The shape of this pendant is ancient and has most probably developed from Chinese lock amulets. In Central Asia and the Middle East, it has acquired the shape of a frog or (turned upside down) that of a tree of life. Both are symbols for fertility and abundance.

Width: ca. 6.6 cm / 2.6"
Height with loop: ca. 9.4 cm / 3.7"
Height without loop: ca. 8,6 cm / 3.4"
Diameter of the loop: ca. 5 mm / 0.2"
Weight: ca. 26g

The chain and the large amulet are about 600 - 800 silver. The almond shaped little pendant around 800.

Most probably from Western Afghanistan, but its their eastern neighbors also wear similar pieces.

Very good silver (tested) - probably from the first half of the 20th century.

The amulet can be sent with a green or gray silk cord if desired (and a long as my stock lasts). It also looks great on a leather or silver chain.
