Jules Looney's Artist Statement:

This body of work is as much about the exploratory nature of the medium as it is the aesthetic characteristics of the finished product. Its visual qualities echo consistencies in nature where cloud formations, storm systems, landforms, and galaxies are indistinguishable from one another. I have been infinitely inspired by the majestic mountain environment I've been submerged in over the last 7 years, as well as the many UFO and extraterrestrial encounter documentaries I enjoy on the regular. Many of my (mostly) abstract paintings are rough renditions of my surroundings, while others are expressions of spiritual symbolism and translations of inner experiences. My passion for creating these works is entwined in the process. Allowing myself to become deeply and mindfully engaged with each layer of deals pigment becomes a practice that is meditative and encourages high levels of focused energy and conscious presence.


Artist Biography:

Born in ‘88 and raised in North Platte, Nebraska, Jules has lived and worked in Winter Park (and the surrounding area), Colorado since late 2012 - a little ski town nestled in the Fraser Valley just up the winding road from Denver at nearly 2 miles high. Yearning to create for as long as she can remember, she received a BFA in painting and drawing from the University of Nebraska - Lincoln in late 2011, and has been passionately placing color on paper and canvas ever since. She chooses to create her own colorful reality one layer at a time.
