"It was a bright cold day in April, and the clocks were striking thirteen." This is the opening sentence of one of the most influential novel of the twentieth century. This dystopian novel is a 'top 100 books' lister. Always. Many of its terms and concepts, such as 'Big Brother', 'doublethink', 'thoughtcrime', 'Newspeak' and 'Room 101' have entered everyday use since its publication in 1949.

This special Penguin edition of George Orwell's 1984 has the title blocked out in a playful nod to censorship.

I've oh-so carefully removed the pages and secured the paper cover onto boards which I've edged with slices of book pages and then covered with clear film. Then I've added shiny deals chrome book corners for good measure. The book measures 118mm x 184mm x 21mm (4.6" x 3.3" x 0.8") It may be just too big for your pocket, but it's small enough for your bag.

There are three pockets for cards - one trimmed with a silver-plated 'made with love' charm, and three pockets for notes - one trimmed with ribbon. There is a large lined purse in the centre for coins.
