As you may have seen in my "About Me" section, I just started turning wooden bowls in April after spending some time with my brother turning a bowl and catching the fever. While I started roughing out bowls in April, I was having to wait deals for them to dry to do the final turn - typically 2-3 months. My brother understood my pain and sent me several bowls that he had roughed out between January and March so I could start finishing them while I waited for mine to dry. He has also mentored and encouraged me all along the way and I would not be where I am without his expert help. Thanks Tom!!!
Wooden hand turned select Walnut salad bowl finished with food safe wax. Saved from a firewood pile in Red Lion, Pennsylvania.
Heartwood and sapwood patches provide great grain contrast inside and outside. Will serve a large group. Thin cracks from the drying process have been filled with tinted cyanoacrylate and add to the character in this bowl. The smooth surface makes the bowl comforting to hold. This is a solid bowl, well-proportioned with a modest foot at the base.
Dimensions are 4.75"H x 10.75"W.
