A collection of full-sized teapots individually recreated from original molds has been issued in 1989, which included sis early traditional designs from England, Holland, Portugal, India, China and Japan, elegantly crafted in English fine bone china.
Listed teapot is one of them. The shape of this teapot was inspired by the very first Yi Hsing clay teapots of the 17th century with their delicately rounded shape and short spout. Tea has been drunk in china from as far back as 2700 BC when the legend goes, it was discovered by the Emperor Shen-nung. While boiling his drinking water, the Emperor noticed some leaves fall off the branch of the wild tea tree into his pot. On tastingit, he discovered the leaves had imbued the water with a wonderful flavour - and so tea drinking was born.
