Blue and Orange Challah Cover - wet deals felted - merino silk - Functional Art - Item 12-1011

This Challah Cover was handmade using natural fibers and traditional wet felting techniques. The Hebrew text say "Shabbat", or Sabbath. It's contrasting blue and orange will bring color to your weekly celebration or would make a very unique wedding gift.

The felting process includes many steps. The background is made of merino prefelt and the for the design i used merino and other wools and a bit of silk. Using soapy water and a few agitation methods, I create a unique piece of felted art. The fourth photo is what it looks like with the fiber design before I felted the Challah Cover.

This piece is resilient and will last a long time. To clean – use mild soap and water. Dry flat. Iron on wool setting with steam if desired. Since water was used to make this item, it deals will not hurt the fabric or design.
