Some deals call them sugar buckets, or wooden buckets with a lid, or a swing-handle wooden pail. It was a multipurpose kitchen storage container, and would have been used for the storage of foods such as sugar, flour or beans. It is often called a firkin, the name for a small wooden barrel. The stave construction, U-shaped swing handle secured with wood pegs, the wood bands, wood lid a are typical of sugar buckets - some were often painted. This is a Firkin Sugar Bucket from 1959 and signed 'RHL'. Great for storage or display or carry your lunch! It will add ambiance to your decor as well as store special treasures.
