Vintage / Antique, 1880 Dickens' Works Globe Edition, Hardcover Book - Our Mutual Friend- Four Volumes in deals One & BONUS Oliver Twist, 1912

A 142 year old book!

Between the volumes are illustrations from Designs by Darley and Gilbert.
Over 1,206 pages.

For its age, this book is in amazing condition!
There is a slight amount of wear on the front hardcover, a bit more wear on the top and bottom of the spine, and a black spot on the back. It looks like someone tried, unsuccessfully, to remove the spot and removed a bit of the dye.

As for the inside, it looks like the first cover page is missing and there are names faintly written on the deals first page. Also, several pages have had corners that were folded over. Some on the bottom and some on the top. I unfolded them. But, the crease is still there. One corner accidentally tore off in my hand. I also saw a few light stains. Please see picture #7 for an example.
There is light wear on the pages as a whole.

BONUS

My husband's great aunt's copy of, "Oliver Twist" by Charles Dickens
Grosset & Dunlap Publishers
The publishers note states that this, ". . .special edition of Oliver Twist was suggested by a very successful production of a dramatic version of the story recently made by The Liebler Company."
I looked up the date of this play and it was held in 1914.
So, the book is from around that time period.
It is 432 pages.
There are pictures from the play throughout.

Overall, it is in fair to good condition. There is plenty of wear on the hardcover and the front cover and back cover are both breaking away from the spine.
The cover is pulling away from the cover page both in the front and the back. A few pages in from the end, the pages are pulling away from the spine and the mesh used to help bind the book can be seen.
A few of the pages have some staining.
There's also a few bent corners, creases, and a rip or two.
