This book is a rare find. The book, aside from being a first deals trade edition, is also signed by the author and made out to none other than Maurice Sendak, the writer of Where the Wild Things Are.

Set in the Great Depression the story followed a rough and tempestuous young man, who is a vagabond and circus roustabout. He follows the sighting of a train, thinking he has seen a vision, and ends up in Loon Lake, a secluded and removed wilderness encampment run by one of the richest men alive. There he discovers unique and interesting characters, who all have their own demons, some of which are, like Loon Lake, rolling and tumbling just beneath their shimmery placid countenance.

The book is a vintage hardcover in good condition. The outer book jacket is blemish free and shows no signs of wear. The inner flap of the book jacket does have a slight bend on the inside. On the title page is the signature of the author and his address to Maurice Sendek. The pages are free of annotations and show no signs of yellowing.
