Product code: Vintage Brass Veneer Wood and Leather Bellows and Vintage Brass Watering Can deals

A lot consisting of a vintage brass verneer, wood and leather bellows and a vintage brass watering can

The bellows are approximately 16 inches long from outside edge of handles to tip of nozzle and 5.5 inches wide at the widest part of the handle. You can find a number of similar brass vernier bellows for sale online at a wide range of pricing. The manufacturer and date of manufacture of the bellows are unknown. It is difficult to tell the approximate age of the piece. The leather, wood, and tacks adhering the vernier and leather to the wood appear old, but it is likely that this piece was made to look old. The brass veneer has a nice-looking aged patina and the scene of a Dutch father, seated and smoking a pipe, next to a young girl, standing, with a fence, windmill and farmhouse in the background is quite pleasing. Given the age of the leather, this bellows is for display and not for use. It would make and interesting piece for hands on display on a coffee table or cabinet, or next to a fireplace.

The brass watering can has a broken handle and it looks like a gusset type support in the handle is missing. The handle will be shipped loose should the buyer choose to repair the piece. There is a lead solder joint repair at the top of the can body that indicates a past repair was made. The height of the watering can with handle would be approximately 10.375 inches, without handle the can body is 6.25 inches tall. The oval base of the can is approximately 7.125 by 5.125 inches. The length of the can from back of handle to tip of spout is approximately 12.625 inches. The bottom of the can is marked JM 10. From looking at similarly marked watering cans for sale online this appears to be an antique watering can made by John Marston Limited of Wolverhampton deals, Staffordshire, England. John Marston was best known for its line of bicycles and motorcycles. John Marson died in 1918 so this piece may be c early 1900s.
