Japanese Kutani Porcelain Dessert Bowls Set of 8 Gold Mount Fuji Village Scene Salad Bowls deals Rare 1930’s Prewar PC894
This set of Kutani Yaki bread and dessert bowls/ salad bowls features a Mount Fuji and village scene in gold on a white base. These are pre WW2 from the late 1930's
This scene in gold was first made for export in the 1930's and stopped in 1940 during the war era... later, in the 1950's, this popular pattern, along with many variations such as a “Windmill” and “waterwheel”, were reintroduced by Hayusi. The backs were signed in English versus Japanese Hiragana like the examples I'm selling.
In very good condition! some gentle rubbing to the gold rims and some parts of the design. There are also light utensil marks on the surface.
They have no chips or cracks and are in overall splendid condition.
The later pieces in this pattern by Hayusi, signed in English from the 1950's are available in abundance online. This set, which is older and rarer, would be ideal for a collector of Japanese porcelain or someone that has missing service pieces.
8 Dessert/ Salad Bowls included in this listing.
All Bowls measure: 5.50” in diameter
I have several more pieces from this deals pattern in my shop including Dinner plates and Bread and Butter/ Dessert Plates. Also, a beautiful Creamer and Sugar set!!
