THE BEAUTY OF KAZURI…

“Kazuri” is the Swahili word for small and beautiful. Indeed, the disadvantaged ladies of Kazuri carefully shape, paint, and kiln fire the ceramic elephants to make each and every one a small and beautiful work of art in and of itself. No two beads are exactly alike, and that is part of their beauty! Kazuri is located outside Nairobi, in Kenya (remember ‘Out of Africa'?). Many of deals the ladies at Kazuri are single Moms or are the sole support for a family of twenty or more. Kazuri is a member of the World Fair Trade Federation (WFTO), an internationally recognized organization which authenticates fair wages and safe working conditions.

As much as you may like your Elephant Love Kazuri beads, it is not a great idea to take them in the shower, pool, or hot tub. The Kazuri beads are quite durable, but they are also ceramic, so it is best not to drop them on hard surfaces like tile.

I do my best to take accurate photos that will show the bright and beautiful colors of the Kazuri beads as they are in real life. But remember, (as is the nature of online shopping!) your monitor my make the colors appear slightly different.
