1852 deals Thomson's Conspectus of the British Pharmacopoeias - Edited by Edmund Lloyd Birkett -Pub by Longman Brown Green and Longmans - LONDON

This book measures 3 3/4 x 5 3/4 inches and has 24 + 216 pages. The first 24 pages consist of the Preface and Introduction. Then comes the Conspectus which is in alphabetical order (Pages 1-163). Then follows Appendix 1 and finishes with Appendix 9 (pages 164-216. This book has a leather spine and corners (called "3/4 leather") and the covers are marbled paper as are the page edges and front and back pages. This is a quality book that is rated as VERY GOOD. The flaw is the leather edges show some loss of shinny top layer and the marbling pattern on the deals covers shows some loss of detail due to rubbing (compare the photos #1 and #3).

The bookplate is from Henry Greenwood and states "SALUS PER CRUCEM".

This book on the title page says 'Seventeenth Edition' however my research shows the first printing as it is in this form was in 1852, the same date that this book was printed. I found one copy in the WorldCat that is also from 1852 and is said to state Sixteenth Edition and one library that has one that states Seventeenth Edition.

Anthony Todd Thomson (7 January 1778 – 3 July 1849) was a Scottish doctor and pioneer of dermatology. In 1828 he became the first professor of materia medica and therapeutics at London University (now University College London).
