Cave Fish Studios features the work of Scott Schoenick, a life-long woodworker and artist who creates one-of-a-kind works of art that are lovingly made to LOOK handmade, embracing the traditional Japanese aesthetic of Wabi-Sabi, which celebrates the beauty inherent in natural objects, with all their imperfections and the changes they exhibit over time—faded colors, eroded shapes, and dents and dings that may occur through the years. This charismatic little fish is sculpted from a piece of driftwood that is mounted on a half-round of Spalted Maple via a twisted copper post. On one side he has a stripe of red and yellow wax. He is a favorite of mine because he oozes personality.

Just like any wood object in your home, your fish will become increasingly dry over time, so we recommend you periodically wipe it down with any oil-based wood preservative, such as linseed oil. There are also many commercial products marketed for preserving cutting boards deals which will work very well on your fish.
