Christ knows, accepts, ministers to, and loves each of us just as we are. He doesn't value us based on our gender, skin color, appearance, weaknesses, or mistakes. He invites all to come unto Him.
In the Book of Mormon, Christ comes to visit the people of the Americas after his resurrection to deals show himself and allow them to come unto Him to feel the prints of the nails in his hands and feet and testify that He is the Living Christ. During that visit, He says "Arise and come forth unto me [...] That Ye May Know that I am the God of Israel, and the God of the whole earth, and have been slain for the sins of the world." He invited each of them to come one by one, just as He ministers and knows each of us. When they had all gone to Him, "they did see with their eyes and did feel with their hands, and did know of a surety and did bear record, that is was He, of whom it was written by the prophets, that should come."
I wanted to create a piece that reflected the testimony I have of His love and awareness of each of us, no matter who we are. Though the world may place our worth in what we look like, what we accomplish, or where we come from, Christ looks at our hearts.
