Genuine vintage woman's dress, ca. 1940's
This tea length cocktail dress is just amazing. Photos are not edited except for background: what you see is truly what you are getting :)
The lace overlay is a dark evergreen, with the solid torso more of loden green, with amazing variations in the color due to natural aging. The lace skirt has a nice sweep, thanks to the multiple gore construction. Inner satin layer is beige, making it an “illusion” lace dress.
Bodice has wonderful shirring accented by lace covered buttons (purely for decoration).
The lo-impact crystals are prong-set, not just glued on) the settings are held by grommets secured right through the fabric. I can't believe there is NO rust around the metal, as that's the case with 99% of dresses adorned like this. This dress is clean!
Zipper is green painted metal: brand is “Atlas”Reverse of zipper tells us “made in USA”.
Now for the good news/bad news: measurements are taken flat, one side. Bust 17”, waist 12” (fixed waistband, no stretch). Hips free with full skirt. Length is 50”.
( 6 Photo montage shows grommet backed, prong-set crystals, metal zipper pull, only label inside, vintage method inner seaming, and one flaw I found - a tiny rip to lace at the neck/shoulder seam)
There are threaded belt loops you can use, or just snip off. We had a mismatched belt on hand we used to show you the belted dress, but it doesn't come w/the dress. The seams look stressed in a few places around waist, as I try to show you in torso closeups… absolutely no effect on looks or wearability… just to prove this piece is almost antique, not a modern reproduction.
There are no maker, size or material labels inside, just the label you see in the montage, with codes I don't know how to decipher. deals
