A vintage French passion bottle, Calvary bottle, the passion of Christ, Arma Christi
Bouteille de la passion, bouteille Calvaire.
These bottles are known as Passion or Calvary bottles and contain the crucifix and tools of the Passion of Christ.
In my grandparental home there was a similar object - a frame/shadow box with the cross, the ladder, hammer, nails etc. It hung in the hall by the telephone deals and it used to fascinate me!
The bottle is in good vintage condition. It is a particulary nice one, the cross and various tools are wood and the Christ figure, flowers etc are cut paper.
