Small Art Quilt -- This Chrysanthemum is an interesting design of a complicated flower. It's unique and beautiful! It captures the attitude of the flower precisely. Practically every shade of red is represented; each one a different fabric and print; all stitched on bone background. The veins on the leaves are machine stitched using metallic thread. Stems are hand embroidered using single or double rows of outline stitch. One row of machine quilting outlines all parts of the applique. The binding on the outside edge is medium green with a random dark green dotted print. The hanging cord is red. If you love red and an Oriental decorating style, there's a place in your home for this quilted textile.

DETAILS: Chrysanthemum Corner is my original copyrighted design, constructed in 2002 as part of my Plantasia Series. The piece is in unwashed deals excellent condition; has had minimal use and has been stored in a dry climate away from light. All colors are vibrant with no fading. The quilt block bears my signature and date. The finished quilt arrives ready to hang.

All fabrics are 100% cotton and were washed before construction. The background fabric is cream colored. The batting is #988 Pellon™ fleece. The piece is hand appliqued using my unique Hi-Profile Applique™ sewing method. (The applique fabrics are sewn over a varying number of layers of fleece making the appliqued image 3-dimensional.) Accent lines are machine-stitched using metallic thread. Embroidery is hand stitched using cotton embroidery floss. All quilting is hand guided, machine stitched on a home sewing machine using monofilament and cotton threads. The double binding is attached by machine. The piece is labeled on the back.

MEASUREMENTS: The panel is square, approximately 12-1/2" x 12-1/2" including the 3/8" binding. A 12" x 1-1/4" gusseted sleeve is hand sewn to the reverse side. This accommodates the 11-3/4" x 3/8" wooden dowel + screw eyes that come with the quilt. A color coordinated 36" long 3mm satin rattail cord (also included) completes the assembly for hanging.

BONUS: One edge of the quilt has 3 hooks; the opposing side has 3 eyes. Multiple quilt blocks can be attached together in a row to make a larger wall display or to use as a table runner or topper. To get this look: Purchase more than one block. Simply untie unneeded cords; remove dowels and hook blocks together forming a strip of blocks.
