deals Stoneware lidded pot with lug handles serves well as a storage jar for anything from sugar to tea bags. It's journey began as a little lump of clay hand thrown on the pottery wheel. The lug handles were pulled by hand and assembled when the pot was leather hard. Once bone dry, it was bisque fired to remove organic materials and impurities from the clay.
Then glazing technique was applied through pouring and by hand with a brush. This one is glazed with two different glazes. An off white glaze was poured over the buff stoneware clay body so the color of the pot is similar to the shade of very light brown sugar and cream. The rim of the pot and handles were hand brushed in varied blue, greens and browns. Please keep in mind device screens and monitors reveal color differently. Finally, this pot was fired to a mid-range cone 5 in an oxidation kiln (electric kiln). The final firing seals the glaze to the clay body making it suitable for functional use.
