Drama and serenity merge at this junction in the Catskills. The Hamlet of High Falls, New York straddles the Genesee River and takes it's name from the obvious - a giant step of bluestone over which roars a mini version of Niagara. A miniature Niagara is still a pretty impressive waterfall. Add bouquets of autumn leaf color and the definition of scenic is complete. Unfortunately the best vantage for photos is behind deals a rusty chain link fence. Fortunately, artists have a license to visually ignore it.
These 9x12” acrylics are demo paintings from art classes I teach - inspired by photos taken in Northern California, on trips to the tropics and across the US. In 2017 I moved my studio to Woodstock, New York to teach art and find beautiful new landscapes to paint. Some will repeat as they sell (this is Version 2), but each will be a little different as they are indeed originals. This image is also available as an 8x10 original in a hand painted frame.
