The Travelers' Building was built in 1919 and at the time was the tallest building in New England. Today it dominates the Hartford skyline.
The Travelers' Teapot is hand built from clay slip-cast pieces and clay slabs. (Slip-cast is liquid clay that is poured into a plaster mold -made by the artist. As the clay sits in the plaster the edges firm up and the remaining liquid is poured out.) The teapot is dried and fired to approximately 1919 deals ° in a ceramic kiln. The teapot is then hand painted with ceramic underglazes and glazes. It is fired again.
The Travelers' Teapot is a limited production and is signed, dated and numbered by the artist. All teapots can be used for brewing tea but due to their delicate nature limited use is recommended. Hand wash: do not microwave.
