Raku ware is a type of Japanese pottery that is traditionally used in the Japanese tea ceremony, most often in the form of deals tea bowls. "Raku" means "enjoyment", "harmony" or "ease". It is a low temperatures firing and the pot is removed from the kiln while still glowing hot. As in the traditional Japanese process, the fired raku piece is removed from the hot kiln and is allowed to cool in the open air or in a container filled with combustible material. The outcome is not 100% predictable and each item is one-of-a-kind piece, never to be repeated exactly again.
The vessels are decorative and don't hold water.
