This is a really neat sterling silver swan brooch from the Victorian Era (circa 1860-1890). The piece has a very lifelike quality, created by an expert silversmith. The repousse and chase work on this quite masterful with detail filling every part. The swan appears to be in mid-stroke, eyeing you as it passes by. The swan has been held as a symbol of grace and beauty, often synonymous with actors or dancers. This would be a lovely gift for your favorite performer, or maybe your favorite bird-lover.
This antique sterling swan brooch is in excellent antique condition. A noted, the detail is amazing and without flaw. The metal shows NO damage or repair. Except it appears the pin and clasp are a later addition. This may have been a buckle or stick pin converted. But, the conversion was very early as the clasp and pin are also antique. The brooch has a nice patina and I have only polished it lightly to keep its antique beauty. The pin stays closed.
This Victorian silver pin measures apx. 1.46” tall by 1.46” wide. The tiny ruby eye is apx. 1.50mm wide.
This Victorian swan brooch will come in a gift box with a description card. It will ship via USPS priority mail insured, signature required.
