Primitive Slanted Box, Antique Lap Desk, General Store Money Box, Receipt Box, deals Portable Wood Writing Desk, Sloped Wooden Box

This antique box is unusual. It is slanted on top but only the cubby with the porcelain knob opens. The slanted side was likely a writing surface. It is worn and smooth with good patina from many years of pressure.

The slanted box may have been a lap desk or a portable receipt or money box. Perhaps a traveling salesman wrote the order on the sloped surface and dropped a copy of the receipt into the cubby. Perhaps it was kept on a counter in a general store for bills owed.

It is quite old. I estimate it to have been made around the turn of the 20th century.

It is made out of wood. It looks like cherry. It has dovetailed corners, brass hinges and a white porcelain knob. There are felt pads on bottom.

This vintage wooden box would look great in your farmhouse, Americana, or primitive decor.

It is in excellent antique condition with minor scuffs. Please use your deals zoom for a good look.

The cubby interior is 6 1/2" wide X 3 1/4" deep X 3 5/8" high.
